For CCS technologies to be realized globally, it is the near-term actions that count. Industry, governments and many other stakeholders need to work together to lower the cost of CCS while increasing the cost of unabated emissions, to a point where CCS becomes financially viable. Cross-industry initiatives and integration can help to scale CCS markets, such as through building CO2 transport hubs and connecting industrial clusters.

Challenges:

  • Many different technologies, companies and regulators are involved across the value chain
  • Different parts of the value chain will be driven by companies and sectors that may not have worked together before
  • Companies will need to balance risk and reward as they pioneer a new industry
  • Social license needs to be built, and community trust in CCS nurtured.

DNV is supporting CCS projects across the entire value chain

With technical, financial, knowledge management and risk management experts, DNV is well positioned to advise at the systems level and across the CCS value chain.

Key services include:

  • Value chain assessment and integration services
  • HSE risk assessment and management
  • Project risk assessment
  • Compliance/regulatory services
  • Value chain analysis for CO2 utilization concepts
